I think I am going to need a bigger garlic patch next year

Ok this was my first year  growing garlic... I still have a few left in the ground but so far this one is my biggest.

I know everyone says it but until you see it and have them in your hand you really can't understand. Really there is no comparison to grocery garlic. My kids kept calling them onions (they were just that big... some were small but I had some nice sized ones).

Also learned the value of compost...  really it makes a difference. (I didn't use any fertilizer on my garlic). As well as the fact that you really do need to invest in proper seed garlic... not just pick it up from the grocery store.

This one is a German Red Toch garlic and  I've decided I am going to try a few more varieties... problem is I am having a hard time narrowing it down. Here is my "small list":

Asian Tempest
chesnok red
music
rusian inferno
spanish roja
chinese pink

Till then I've got three more months to prepare for a bigger garlic patch.
